Head injury (evaluation and criteria for Imaging For patients >2yrs of age) Minor head trauma = normal MS, no focal Neuro Si/Sx, No evidence of skull fxr, GCS 15 Mild TBI (often synonymous with Concussion) = induced disturbance of neurological function and mental state with or without LOC (rapid onset, short-lived, generally resolves spontaneously) • HA • Vomiting • LOC • Amnesia • AMS Evaluation: • History o Mechanism of injury, time of onset o Symptoms: Seizure, confusion, LOC, HA, Vomiting o Pre-existing conditions: bleeding d/o, meds, hemorrhage risk • PE: o Scalp abnormalities, depression, skull fracture
